For Immediate Release
March 24, 2008

BREAKING LACES TO RELEASE LIVE ALBUM ON FUZZ.COM
New York City Band To Release Album on Revolutionary “Mixtape” Format March 25

Brooklyn, NY—Brooklyn based alt-pop band Breaking Laces teamed up last year with San Francisco-based music company Fuzz.com. In addition to managing the band, Fuzz.com has introduced a revolutionary platform for artists to market and digitally promote their music. As a result, on March 25, Breaking Laces will release its new live album, Live at Seaside Studios, exclusively on Fuzz.com using the Fuzz ”Mixtape.” The Laces’ album in Mixtape format, which is a digital rendering of a cassette tape, will be available exclusively on Fuzz.com. The album features songs that the Laces have never before released including brand new tracks, live versions, and rare tunes requested by the band’s illustrious street team.

Fans can sign up at Fuzz.com and purchase the entire album or individual songs which can be played on their mp3 players or burned to a CD. The Mixtape is a 3D, fully customizable audio player that can be shared via email through a link or easily embedded into any web page.

The idea for the album came about last summer when Breaking Laces entered the studio to film some promotional footage and record a jam session to inspire new ideas. They hired Seaside Studios to record their session and had Spare Key Productions film the creative process. Video clips are available on the band’s MySpace and Sonic Bids pages. Interestingly, what started as a jam developed into a full-blown live release as the band was surprised by how well the recording came out. “It’s funny what can happen when you get friends together, have a few beers, and just hit the record button,” they said. “It’s not live from a venue, but there are no overdubs and no fancy Pro Tools edits. It’s just the Laces doing what we do best—making our music. We hope the fans will appreciate the raw recordings that were all done in one take.”

Song Listing:
1. Angeline
2. Shopping for Two
3. The Ballad of Breaking Laces
4. Rocking Chair
5. I Used To Be A Boyscout
6. Space Jam
7. Water is for Pussies!
8. Bad Timing
9. What You Can't Take Away
10. Angeline (Reprise/Outro)

About Breaking Laces:
Breaking Laces is a three-piece alternative acoustic rock band from Brooklyn, NY that has the rare ability to sound completely original but at the same time recognizable. Their approach combines stellar songwriting and organic musicianship with electronics and a guitar sound that pushes the envelope of “acoustic” to create a sound that is fresh, accessible and at times, mind-blowing. Because of their versatility and influences, it can be hard to place the band’s music in a certain category, as evidenced by the various comparisons they’ve received over the years: Death Cab for Cutie meets Martin Sexton, Weezer meets Cat Stevens, even Squeeze meets Radiohead.

Breaking Laces began with a grass roots vision and big time goals, and after years of feverishly touring the states and beyond, they built a loyal following. They were declared the 2006 Best Band in NYC by Indie Sounds NY, scored the honor of being the XM Radio Artist in Residence for June 2007, and flat out won the 2007 National Starbuck's Music Makers Competition. Ironically, after almost five years together, they’re being touted as one of the nation’s most promising new acts!

The music of Breaking Laces has evolved over the years, much like the band itself. Their debut full-length, 2003’s Sohcahtoa, was essentially a Hartong solo album, but “my desire was really to put a band around it,” he says. “I didn’t want to be a solo artist; I like the give and take of being in a band.” In short order, Hartong united with drummer Seth Masarsky and bassist / keyboardist Rob Chojnacki, who had themselves been longtime musical partners. A true and instant bond between the trio was formed and became immediately evident on the band’s next album, Lemonade (2005), only growing stronger on the subsequent EP, Astronomy Is My Life, But I Love You (2007).

Studio performances are only a small part of the Breaking Laces experience, however. In concert, they’re a force to be reckoned with, with a dynamic mastery of sound, which enables them to move from a whisper to a scream without batting an eye and allows them to capture the attention of any crowd, no matter how large or small. Every gig they play is treated like a journey, which is exactly what it becomes for both those on stage and in the audience, with the band stopping at nothing to ensure that everyone in the room is completely rocked.
BREAKING LACES RETURNS TO THE UK
New York City Based Band Recently Won Starbucks Competition

Brooklyn, NY—Brooklyn based alt-pop band Breaking Laces will return to the U.K. for a two-week tour beginning December 31 at Aspinall Arms in Lancashire. Complete tour dates are listed below and the band is available for interviews upon request. Breaking Laces continued a stellar 2007 by winning the Starbucks Music Makers competition in October, continuing to impress industry types and others in the know with their unique approach to songwriting and a compelling live show.

Breaking Laces continues to separate themselves from the pack, and a few months ago were the Artist in Residency on XM Satellite Radio, hosting a show on XMU Channel 43, something that is typically reserved for such acts as The Strokes and Snow Patrol. The band also has had some success with film/TV placements, the latest being their song, “This World,” from their latest full length album, Lemonade, landing in the upcoming film, Waiting For Hockney. Breaking Laces is a three-piece rock band with a big sound and a growing following. The Laces are part long hair rockers, part country club golfers, and part music school prodigies. In other words, they are like no other band out there. After the band’s last two albums charted on CMJ’s Top 200 (with 2006’s Lemonade peaking at #66), Breaking Laces released a six song EP, Astronomy Is My Life, But I Love You. In three years of existence, Breaking Laces has played over 350 shows, including tour dates in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Comparisons have been made to Weezer meets Elvis Costello, Squeeze meets Radiohead, even Martin Sexton meets James Blunt. But why is this band so hard to peg? Because Breaking Laces is fresh, original and friggin’ good. Their sound can best be described as smart indie rock with a pop edge. They’re toe tapping, melodic, quirky, and modern. They are, as Paste Magazine said, “Exactly what Indie Rock needs now.”

Breaking Laces fans and friends!

Thanks to all who came out to the Delancey in NYC for our tour kickoff party. June is Laces road time and this month will bring us to towns in the South, Midwest and Northeast, which much more to follow in July and August.

Check below for June tour dates and stop in on www.breakinglaces.com for details on the whole summer shebang. Dates are still coming in for late summer, so keep an eye out.

We are heading out tomorrow for a four day swing of West New York; Buffalo, Albion, Rochester and Jamestown will be among the Laced, but in the meantime, we have some cool happenings and events to share with you to keep you in the Laces loop even if you can't see us live.

XM RADIO

The Laces were selected as XM Radio's Artist in Residency for the month of June. Sweet! We will be featured on XMU channel 43 every Tuesday in June from 10 pm to midnight EST time (with encore broadcasts for each show the following Wednesday from 2-4pm and Thursday from 6-8 am).

We will be hosting a radio show and spinning a slew of our favorite songs as well as showing off our offbeat DJ stylings. Doing this show is a great honor and we have big shoes to fill as last months host was the Strokes and next moth will be Snow Patrol. We will be exploring various themes for each show and having a lot of fun along the way.

Definitely a great way for not only you, but also your friends to get a taste of what this band is about. So listen in and pass along the word to all your XM friends. If you don't have an XM radio, use the internet…streams are available at www.xmradio.com

LIVE STREET TEAM SHOW

We know there are a lot of loyal fans out there that have yet to see us live and a lot of places around the country we have yet to hit. And since live is where the Laces excel, we figured that if you can't come to us, we'll come to you. So, we booked a Brooklyn studio on June 12th and will be taping a full on Laces show. We'll have nice cameras and sweet studio equipment, but we are going to go live and real. No overdubs, no stopping, no fear. Just our instruments and our sweat.

We will be giving the opportunity for our street team to request some songs and ask some questions, so if you are on the team…contact Ms. McPants at streetteam@breakinglaces.com and she'll take care of you. If you aren't on the street team, perhaps it's time to check out what it's all about. Go to www.breakinglaces.com, see what the deal is and sign up.

That's it for now, June dates below and keep in touch.
